Rain chances are increasing and the temperatures will be decreasing over the next few days. By the weekend it will feel more like early Spring than late Spring.

For today, there will be a period of wet weather for most locations this morning. Some thunder is likely as well. A quarter to half inch of rain is possible in the areas that experience a bit of thunder. By mid-morning this activity should come to an end. The weather will then be very nice around midday and early afternoon with high temps reaching the low to mid 70s. A cold front moving in from the north will produce another chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms late this afternoon. There could even be some small hail or brief gusty winds with one of the thunderstorms late today. Winds will be out of the southwest at 10 to 15 mph this morning, then switch to the northwest late this afternoon.

The weather will dry up overnight and stay dry for most of the area on Friday. With a northeast wind developing, it will be a lot cooler on Friday with highs in the low 60s. There will be more sun in the north and more clouds in the south. By late afternoon or early evening, some rain could start to move into the southern part of the area, south of Marathon county. This rain is in association with a strong low pressure system that will plague our area over the weekend.

Off an on light rain and drizzle will develop on Saturday. A tenth up to around a quarter inch is likely. With a continued east wind, temperatures will be a lot colder, only topping out in the low to mid 50s. The bulk of the storm system and rain will move in on Sunday. Rain and storms during the day could produce another 1 to 2 inches. High temp on Sunday will still be below normal, only in the mid to upper 50s.

Showers should finally come to an end Monday morning and a few breaks of sun are likely Monday afternoon. The dry weather will not last too long though, another chance of rain will develop later Tuesday. At least high temps should rise back up to around 60 on Monday and reach the low to mid 60s on Tuesday.

Have a magnificent Thursday! Meteorologist Justin Loew, 4:30 a.m. 16-May-2019
