More great weather is on the way for this Wednesday and you will want to enjoy it because it will be turning quite a bit cooler for the weekend. You might have to dodge some rain at times as well.

Skies should be sunny to partly cloudy once again for today and high temperatures should respond nicely, reaching the low 70s this afternoon. It could be the warmest day of the month so far. The weak front that moved through our area last night will still linger in the southern part of the area today and this could spark an isolated shower early this afternoon for areas south of Stevens Point. Winds will be out of the northwest at 5 to 10 mph.

The weather should be dry for most of tonight, then another cold front will move in from the northwest and this will bring a chance of showers or an isolated thunderstorm Thursday morning. As the front lingers over the southern half of the area on Thursday afternoon, a thunderstorm or two might redevelop. It is only a 50% chance of showers in the morning, so it is not a guarantee that you will get wet. Even though the front is moving through, the high temps should be around 70. The cold air associated with the front will not arrive until Friday.

An east to northeast wind will develop for Friday and that is when you will notice more of a cool down. With variable clouds on Friday, high temps will linger in the low 60s. There is a small chance of showers in the southern part of the area late Friday as a stronger storm system moves toward Wisconsin from the southwest. This storm system will plague our area over the weekend. It will likely bring a couple of periods of light rain for Saturday and then more widespread and steady rain on Sunday with a few thunderstorms possible as well. With the clouds and rain, the weekend will be cool. Highs will only be in the 50s on Saturday and around 60 on Sunday.

Rain should taper off on Monday, then another storm system could bring some rain or thunderstorms back into the picture for Tuesday. High temps early next week should be in the 60s.

Have a magnificent Wednesday! Meteorologist Justin Loew, 4:30 a.m. 15-May-2019
