Tonight: Partly cloudy, cold.
Wind NW ~5 becoming West. Wind chills -5 to -15.
Friday: Variable clouds, cold.
Wind West 5-10. Wind chills near zero during the afternoon.
Lake-effect snow showers and flurries continued across northern Wisconsin through the day. Elsewhere, morning sunshine was followed by variable cloud cover. It was cold with highs ranging from the mid teens to mid 20s. The west to northwest winds were strong enough at times to generate wind chills in the single digits especially north of Wausau.
The lake-effect snow showers across the north will diminish by tonight as the winds turn to the west and become light. Some cloud cover is forecast Friday as a weak wave of low pressure slides through.
Cold conditions will linger into the weekend. Lows through Sunday will be in the single digits above and below zero. Winds will be light through the period, but still generate below zero wind chills at times.
A quiet weather pattern is also expected through early next week, with a reasonable amount of sunshine for this time of year.
