MOSINEE, Wis. (WAOW) — Spring is in the air and that means gardeners are getting their gardens ready!

So News 9 Chief Meteorologist Justin Loew and Wake Up Wisconsin Anchor Neena Pacholke helped motivate kids to learn about gardening.

The United Way hosts ‘Adopt-A-Classroom’ program teaching area kids about gardening.

Justin and Neena visited Mrs. Zastrow’s kingergarten class at Mosinee Elementary School on Thursday.

Neena read students a book about gardening before students prepped bean and pea seeds for planting.

“The community involvement is amazing and it’s awesome for kids to see how there are people out there in our community who want to come in and learn with them in their classrooms and be part of their every day learning,” Crystal Zastrow, a Kindergarten Teacher at Mosinee Elementary said.

In a few days, students will be able to plant their seeds.

Mrs. Zastrow said in past years, kids have been able to eventually eat what they planted.
