EAU CLAIRE COUNTY (WQOW) – Two Eau Claire County twins are facing charges after getting in a fight over grilling hot dogs over the weekend in Fairchild.
Isaac Thompson, 20, is facing a charge of misdemeanor battery – domestic abuse, a charge of pointing a firearm at another – domestic abuse and a charge of disorderly conduct – domestic abuse, threat to use a dangerous weapon.
Alex Thompson, 20, is facing a charge of pointing a firearm at another – domestic abuse and a charge of disorderly conduct – domestic abuse, threat to use a dangerous weapon.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to a home in Fairchild on Sunday, June 9. Alex Thompson said he was in a fight with his brother and a gun was involved.
Alex told police they were hanging out planning to grill hot dogs later. When they started to cook, Isaac was still playing video games and Alex got upset. Alex said he told Isaac to leave several times, but he didn’t so he punched him.
A third man told police he heard the brothers arguing and heard a loud smack. As he entered the bedroom he saw Alex stumbling backward after being hit. The witness said Alex went and got a loaded shotgun, returned to the bedroom, said the safety was off and pointed the gun at Isaac’s chest.
Then, Isaac got the gun and pointed it at Alex’s legs and then Alex’s head and said he would shoot him, according to the complaint.
As the two struggled over the gun, Issac hit Alex again and pointed the gun at his face as he ejected the rounds on the floor, the criminal complaint says.
Police found a 12-gauge shotgun in the bedroom. It had three rounds in it and six more on the floor.
Police said they also found several knives in both brothers’ pockets.
If convicted on all of the charges, Isaac Thompson faces 2 years and 3 months in prison while Alex faces 1 1/2 years in prison.
