Donkey rescued from busy interstate by Illinois deputy

COOK COUNTY, ILL. (WKOW) — A Sheriff’s deputy recovered a donkey in the middle of Interstate 90 in Cook County, Illinois Wednesday.

In a post on their Facebook Page, The Cook County Sheriff’s office said, “Shrek was nowhere to be found…but we did find Donkey yesterday in the middle of I-90, near Arlington Heights Road.”

In body cam video, the deputy who happened upon the donkey can be heard trying to explain to an incredulous dispatcher that she is attempting to rescue a farm animal from the middle of the interstate.

“Happily, the donkey, named Dusty, was returned to his owner shortly thereafter,” the Sheriff’s office said.
