This week’s Central WIsconsin Golf Card brings us to a “hidden gem”, as owner Andy Hooyman puts it.
It’s Riverside Golf Course in Clintonville–one he says can be hard to find, but that always brings people back once they’ve played it.
That’s because it offers a little bit of everything.
“We’re a different kind of course that you can find in other parts of the state, just with our rolling hills, the unique views, being located at the highest point of Waupaca County. The quality of our greens, the quality of our maintenance overall on our course is very good,” Hooyman said.
It’s front nine was built all the way back in 1929, while the back nine wasn’t built until 2000. That means you’re going to get two different experiences on the same course.
“The front nine is a little bit narrower with the mature trees, winding through the forest. Once you get to the back nine, it’s a little bit different course. A little bit more wide open.”
On the back nine is where you’ll find the course’s signature hole: a par-3, 150 yard island green hole.
“People love the green. It’s unique. It’s different. Not something they see everyday,” Hooyman said.
