Stevens Point native Cole Caufield was selected 15th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2019 NHL Draft.
Caufield is the third person from Stevens Point to be drafted in the NHL and the sole first-rounder.
The 5-foot-7 18-year-old has been judged for his small frame, but has the stats to prove critics wrong. Caufield set the single-season U.S. National Development Program Under-18 record with 72 goals this season.
The SPASH alum became the all-time leader at the program with 126 goals in 123 games over two season.
Caufield is scheduled to attend the Unversity of Wisconsin in the fall.
