Mosinee High School’s hockey team is just 4-10 on the season, but one of its forwards is making all the difference in games.
Junior Trey Fitzgerald leads the Indians with 23 points and is the sixth best scorer in the Great Northern Conference.
Head coach Troy Michalski and line-mate Max Beste say it’s his approach in practice and in games that makes him so successful.
“Whether it’s a drill we’re working on or it’s a system, he gives 100 percent all the time and as a coach that’s all you can ask for,” Michalski said. “The guy shows up and you know what you’re going to get from him. Just consistency all the time; that carries over into games and he’s our leading scorer because of that.”
“The motivation of him going out there everytime just giving it his all shows how passionate he is,” Beste said. “He comes off of every shift just sweating. He really inspires a lot of these guys to get better.”
Fitzgerald played a crucial role in last week’s 11-4 win over Medford. His five goals and two assists snapped a four-game losing streak.
