(WAOW) — A study shows Wisconsin’s paper industry ranks number one in the nation, and state officials are touring the Badger state to highlight the results.
State and paper industry leaders stopped by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to highlight the study and recognize statewide economic contributions to Wisconsin’s paper manufacturers.
The new UWSP study finds that Wisconsin has the post paper mills, industry employees, and raanks first in value of products sold.
“Wisconsin’s pulp paper and converting industries directly generated 18.2 billion dollars in economic input.. and employed over 30,000 employee workers in 2018,” said Jason Scott of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
Officials say the study also finds there are 34 paper mills in Wisconsin, and they hope to continue to lead the industry. Furthermore, UWSP has the only paper engineering program in the state — which officials say has a 100 percent employment rate for all graduates — playing a major rule in contributing to the industry.
