Weston (WAOW) — Police are searching for a dog owner after they say a man was bit by a dog.
They say it happened at the Weston Dog Park Saturday June 8th between 5 and 6 p.m.
According to police, a woman’s dog tried to attack the victim’s dog and the victim attempted to break it up. That’s when they say the man was bit.
The woman is described as being in her 20’s-30’s with a pit bull mix and two small chihuahuas with her. She allegedly left in a small red car.
The victim told police the woman was calling the dog by Harvey or Harley. The dog may not have been the woman’s, she may have just had it with her according to the victim.
The health department says there are rabies concerns. They want to locate the dog to test for rabies.
“In Wisconsin most dogs are vaccinated from six months on up,” Dale Grosskurth, Environmental Health & Safety Director for the Marathon County Health Department said. “Most vaccinations are not 100 percent effective and rabies is not any different, so an animal can be vaccinated and still be a carrier.”
