WAUSAU (WAOW)– A proposal that would eliminate eight part-time sheriff’s deputy positions was unanimously approved by the Marathon County Board during their meeting Tuesday night.

Those eight part-time positions being eliminated will be replaced with the hiring of two full-time positions.

The board agenda said the change would be “a more effective use of resources.”

It went on to say trying to fill thirteen part-time positions has been labor intensive and they’ve experienced a high turnover due to employees looking for full-time jobs.

Other costs associated with the number of current positions include: training, equipment, uniforms, and employee screenings.
