MILWAUKEE — A decision is expected soon on the location of the 2020 Democratic Party National Convention, and Milwaukee appears to be the favorite.
In a story posted Friday on Politico.com Milwaukee is the “odds-on favorite.”
Politico says there are two big reasons Milwaukee may be the frontrunner.
DNC Chairman Tom Perez’s wife went to high school in Milwaukee and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. They also got married in Milwaukee.
And, Democrats need to win Wisconsin in 2020. The city has a new arena that has a lot of open space around it that could add some flexibility for planning and events, Politico reported.
Houston and Miami are also still being considered.
A decision is expected to be made in the next two or three weeks.
