WAUSAU (WAOW) — The Wausau 525 kicks off this weekend bringing pro and semi-pro snowmobile races to Marathon County for 15th year.

The races will take place on both Saturday and Sunday at 10 AM, at the Wausau 525 Track.

The two days will include over 80 races. For a one day pass it will cost $15 or $25 for the entire weekend.

The event was created to honor the Wausau 525 Owner and Presidents late son, Philip “Flip” Merwin. He passed away while competing in the sport they both love.

A separate charity was also created in his memory, known as the Flip Fund. The charity awards funds to children with critical illnesses, local high school scholarships, the Lions Club, Boy Scouts, and other similar causes.

There will be plenty of places to warm up in-between races, as well as food and refreshments available.
