Marathon County Crime Stoppers: Illegal garbage dumping

WAUSAU (WAOW) – Wausau police hope to generate new leads in a garbage dumping case at a north side business.

“Security cameras captured a white male in an dark-colored SUV illegally dump a twin mattress and box spring along with a bag of trash in a dumpster,” Marathon County Sheriff’s Deputy Brad Tatro said.

It happened at Brandenburg Plumbing and Heating, behind the shop, on June 17, police said.

Investigators say illegal dumping is a growing problem as offenders look to avoid paying the disposal fees.

“We see trash and large furniture put in dumpsters at area parks and someone has to pay for that,” Tatro said.

The fine for illegal dumping ranges from hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
