STEVENS POINT (WAOW) The Stevens Point community took part in climate strikes happening around the world on Friday.

The strike in Stevens Point was helped organized by 350 Stevens Point and Citizen Climate Lobby.

“Even though Stevens Point is a smaller town, we can still hold our own strike and doesn’t have to be just Milwaukee, Madison or Chicago,” said UWSP student and President of 350 Stevens Point Molly McGuire.

While many adults came to show their support, kids are the leading force behind this movement.

“We are the world’s future and we want to have a bright future for our kids,” said young activist Jorryn Foster.

Kids and young adults at the climate strike are hoping politicians will take notice and make meaningful changes.

Stevens Point Mayor Mike Wiza was in attendance, and applauded those who attended and encouraged them to continue to talk and raise awareness about climate change.
