(WAOW) — A Wood County couple was charged with killing their newborn son in court Monday morning.
The newborn’s mother, 22-year-old Marylinn Feher, was charged with first-degree intentional homicide and child neglect causing death.
The child’s father, 19-year-old Allen Rice, was also charged with child neglect leading to death, as well as obstructing an officer.
In April, officials said they found the infant tied up in a blanket and a plastic bag in the Marshfield Medical Center parking lot. An autopsy later revealed the baby had been strangled shortly after birth, which Feher admitted to in court Monday.
Additionally, Feher admitted to intentionally hitting the baby’s head on a toilet multiple times.
According to court records, the couple arrived at Marshfield Medical Center around 2 a.m. the morning of the baby’s death. The baby, who was not present upon their arrival, was not found for another eight hours, died at 4:16 p.m. that afternoon, court records indicated.
Both Feher and Rice remain in jail.
