PLOVER (WAOW) – A  Plover woman abducted as a teen says it takes a strong support network to recover.

Jessyca Mullenberg Christianson is now 37.

She was just 13 when a neighbor kidnapped her and held her captive for more than 100 days.

News 9 talked to Mullenberg Christianson on Tuesday–which marks one-year– since the abduction of 13-year old Jayme Closs of Barron County.

Her abductor held her for 88 days before she escaped.

Mullenberg Christianson says recovery is a long process and support of family and friends is key.

“It is tough if you don’t have someone to talk to and trust –friends and family you need that to get through,” Jessyca Mullenberg Christianson said.

She continues to share her story–working with child safety groups in hopes that no child will ever have to go through what she did.
