SALEM, Wis. (WISN)—
Deputies in Kenosha County said they have identified the student who wrote a threat in a school bathroom stall.
According to a release, the student was released to their parents and is being referred to the Kenosha County Juvenile Intake and the Kenosha District Attorney’s Office for a charge of terrorist threats.
Authorities said it was still unclear why the message was written.
Salem Grade School was locked down after a threat was discovered.
Police said the threat was found about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The words “I will shoot up this school 5th Grade” were found written in a women’s bathroom stall.
Students were ordered to stay in their classrooms.
Parents were urged not to go to the school.
Officers conducted a sweep but didn’t find anything threatening.
The message was not considered to be a credible threat.
Police said the school will notify parents with more information.
The lockdown was lifted at 11:30 a.m.
No other details have been released.
So far, no arrests have been made.
