ROTHSCHILD, Wis. (WAOW) — Community officials began planning and fundraising for a proposed splash pad at the Rothschild-Schofield Aquatic Center a year ago.
Their end goal is to raise $500,000. At least $200,000 is needed to start construction.
They’ve raised close to $50,000 so far. Rothschild community leaders say they’re seeking any donations or grant money to help fund the project.
They also say it’s something that parents and kids want.
“The pool commission had researched what to do… If we should add some new playground equipment,” said Rothschild Village Administrator Gary Olsen. “And they came up with the splash pad as being one of the things that would be best because this pool is for a lot of younger kids, usually. And that’s perfect for the younger kids.”
Olsen says they hope to have the splash pad built and completed by next year.
It would replace a sand playground area at the center.
