WOOD COUNTY, Wis. (WAOW) – The Wood County Courthouse is currently without adequate security in its entrance according to Wood County Sheriff Shawn Becker.

The Wood County Courthouse received $115,000 to have new scanners and other security equipment installed at the entrance.

“There’s so many different court appearances,” Sheriff Becker said. “Like today [Monday] we had a couple of them that were high profile. That brings in a lot of interest from the public and if we’re not providing a safe environment who knows what could happen.”

He also added that they’re currently in the process of filling courthouse security positions, and the new upgrades should be in place by early fall.
