ROTHSCHILD (WAOW) — Taxi drivers will have new opportunities in Rothschild. On Monday the village board voted to amend an old taxi cab ordinance.
The old rule made it difficult for taxi companies to take root in the village, and required drivers to jump through a lot of hoops.
Gary Olsen, the Village Administrator, said a resident approached him about starting a taxi business, and that’s when the old laws were reviewed. He also says this will help level the playing field with ride share companies.
“With the Uber and Lyft that really aren’t regulated, they can just come and go. So it didn’t make sense to have these hoops for a taxi cab company.”
