RHINELANDER (WAOW) — The administrative assistant for the Rhinelander city administrator has resigned citing difficulty to coming to work everyday, with uncertainty about the future.

Stephanie Rajnicek submitted the signed resignation letter Monday.

This follows the recent firing of the city’s attorney and the near suspension of City Administrator Dan Guild.

Council members have said employees have complained about Guild’s professionalism.

“The gals that work [at city hall], I don’t want to say they’re afraid of him, but they’re uncomfortable with him,” council member Tom Kelly said in an interview with WSAU.

Guild was named the city administrator in September, after resigning from the same position in the village of Weston. Before resigning, he was suspended for 30 days.

Earlier this year, five city employees, including Rajnicek, signed a declaration of no confidence. In it, they claim, “Mr. Guild has failed to lead the City of Rhinelander appropriately in his tenure here.”

A request for comment from Guild was not immediately returned.

Rajnicek’s last day will be May 10.
