WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) — Wausau leaders and business owners came together on Thursday to talk about the future of the greater Wausau region.
The Wausau Chamber of Commerce held their annual economic outlook meeting to talk about their plan to move Wausau’s economic future forward.
President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce, Dave Eckmann said last year they noted the challenges the region faced. Moving forward, the commerce has created a five to 10 year strategic economic plan of action, to address threats and opportunities for growth.
The three key parts are attracting talented people, growing tech-based innovative companies and the quality of the Wausau area.
“Communities throughout the country, like Wausau are competing for talent and building communities and so if we’re going to retain companies here and retain people here, we have to be very intentional about where we put our efforts with the resources and building strong, public, private partnerships,” Eckmann said.
He said if you understand where your threats and weaknesses are, you can address than and that’s just what the Chamber of Commerce is doing.
