Wausau, Wisc. (WAOW) — Governor Tony Evers joined the Hmong American community in Wausau for a round table discussion on Wednesday.

Local Hmong business leaders and government officials joined the conversations, highlighting issues. Evers heard Hmong Americans express their concerns with mental health issues, economic development opportunities for young people, and disparities between urban and state-wide programs.

“He was there to listen to our concerns and the community’s concerns and I thought that was the best feeling we could get from this,” said Yee Leng Xiong, Executive Director of the Hmong American Center in Wausau.

While Evers did not provide solutions to those issues, many at the event said they were excited to be a part of the discussion.
