WAUSAU (WAOW) — A Kronenwetter woman gives kids a place to dream.
For her volunteer efforts Jamie Fisher is recognized with a Jefferson Award.
Jamie Fisher organized the Beds for Kids program.
It provides beds and bedding for children from needy families.
“We knew there was a need, we just didn’t know there was such an urgent need,” Jamie Fisher said.
Since last March, the volunteer organization has delivered more than 100 beds.
“We are getting kids off the floor, couch, blow up mattress or their parent’s beds,” Jamie Fisher said. “That feeling alone is what we get out of this and it is super exciting.”
The project relies on donations and volunteers.
Those who help out say Jamie is the driving force.
“I just appreciate that she did this and the people in our church have really rallied around it,” volunteer Charlyn Marsh said.
