LAKE MILLS (WAOW) — Lake Mills Fire Department’s captain Chris Truman’s death has hit close to home in the fire community.

Truman was killed after being struck by a suspected drunk driver while he was helping with a different crash near Monona Drive.

Fire departments across Wisconsin issued statements via Facebook sharing their condolences.

The father of the person who had originally crashed their vehicle, which Truman came to assist, sent a letter to Lake Mills Fire Department, which they published on Facebook as well.

Truman was 46 years old, an avid outdoorsman, and dedicated fire captain.

The City of Lake Mills Fire Department’s Facebook page will publicly announce funeral arrangements when released.
