Chicago homicide suspect arrested near UWSP campus

STEVENS POINT (WAOW) – A Chicago homicide suspect was arrested near the UWSP campus Wednesday afternoon after a short pursuit by police, according to a news release.

Stevens Point Police were assisting the US Marshals at an apartment on the 400 Block of Michigan Avenue, with a warrant for Jerome Buchanan, 22, the release said.

Police said Buchanan jumped out of a window and ran through a campus parking lot.

After a short chase, Buchanan was taken into custody, the alert said.

He’s currently in the Portage County Jail.

An alert was sent to students.
