Tigerton man dead in lumberyard incident

TIGERTON (WAOW) – A 46-year-old Tigerton man died Thursday in an industrial accident at Tigerton Lumber Co.

Scott Spiegal died about 8 a.m., according to his family.

Spiegal got stuck in a machine that peels off bark from the logs as he tried to clear out a jam, a co-worker said.

Spiegal, who worked at the lumber mill for six years, was a hard worker and always came to work an hour early, the co-worker said.

The U.S. Occupational Health and Safety Administration was at the scene investigating the accident.
