Madison firefighters rescue ducklings, reunite them with mama

Firefighters helped rescue four ducklings from a sewer pipe in Madison Wednesday.

The trapped babies were discovered on Green Avenue and one person had been on location for four hours trying to dig them out. He knew if he had a lot of water, a net and some extra hands, he could get them out. So Engine 10 was called in to help.

According to a Madison Fire Department blog post, the plan for escape involved 1,000 gallons of water, two pike poles and a net secured with duct tape, a milk crate and 14 helping hands.

Mama duck was soon reunited with her four baby ducklings!
