Portage Co. Crime Stoppers: Armed Robbery

Portage County Crime Stoppers is hoping to generate new leads in an armed robbery that happened in Stevens Point.

"At around midnight on June 12 a young man was walking on Wyatt Avenue. He passed two other young men walking on the other side of the street. A short while later, he heard footsteps behind him and when he turned around the two men confronted him with a gun," Stevens Point Detective Dana Williams said.

Investigators say the armed robbers demanded money and anything of value the young man had.

He handed over his cell phone and the robbers then ran off.– headed south on Wyatt Avenue.

The victim then ran to a nearby home to call police.

"We don’t have things like this happen very often. This is very concerning because  a weapon was used," Detective Williams said. "We just hope to get more information on the identity of the young men who did this."

Investigators say the robbers are teens ages 16-18 who are under 6-feet tall.

One is described as a white male with medium length brown hair that is wavy.

The other is described as a black male with short curly hair.

If you have any information you are asked to contact Portage County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-346-6600.

You can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
