UPDATE: Sex offender who cut ankle monitor found

A sex offender who cut off his ankle monitor was off the streets and in police custody Friday afternoon.

Floyd Romatowski was found after a cab driver reported to police that he dropped off the fugitive at Shopko on Grand Avenue, Rothschild police said.

Police later found him nearby and he was arrested without incident, authorities said.

Romatowski cut off his ankle bracelet sometime last week, police said.
