Wisconsin woman charged with stealing from church

BELOIT (WKOW) — A Beloit woman is now charged with stealing thousands of dollars from her church.

Michelle Lomax faces one felony count in Rock County.

She worked as the secretary for First Christian Church in Janesville for the last ten years.

The criminal complaint says Lomax used more than $5,000 of church money to pay her rent.

Police say she admitted that she stole money from her church by authorizing payments to her apartment management company, Premier Real Estates.

She faces up to six years in prison if convicted.
