DC Everest School District feeds area children for the summer

Free meals

WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) — Students in the Wausau area who need help getting food this summer now have more options.

The DC Everest School District is offering free summer meals for kids and teenagers, no questions asked. The program builds off their school meal program during the school year, ensuring that no kids go hungry during the summer.

"Throughout the school year they get food for lunch and breakfast at the schools throughout the district and in the summer they're not offered those meals. Parents may not be able to give them the meals becomes come parents don't work in the summer," DC Everest Nutrition Program Driver Tayvia Kinger said.
