NEW HAVEN, Wis. (WAOW) - Quick thinking from an area pilot kept damage to a minimum and no injuries after a small, private airplane had to make an emergency landing Wednesday afternoon.

A press release posted on the Adams Co. Sheriff's Office Facebook page says a passing military pilot happened to spot what appeared to be a downed aircraft in a field and quickly contacted the FAA.

Police determined the plane had been flying near Wisconsin Dells before 4 p.m. when it experienced an engine failure.

The pilot was able to safely land in a field near the intersection of 5th Avenue and State Highway 23.
