WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) -- The Wausau River District created Dining on the Street as a chance to support local restaurants amid the COVID-19 pandemic, now it's coming back for another year.

After such a great response from its first event in 2020, the river district is expanding what days the event is held. In addition to Wednesday nights, you can also dine outside your favorite restaurants on Saturday nights too.

"All of our restaurants [had a] huge increase in revenue, it was their best night of business that week. Not only was it business demand but also the community wants to see it come back. It was so popular. It's a great event that has a great economic impact on our downtown as well," Blake Opal-Wahoske, Executive Director with the Wausau River District said.

In addition to the live music there will be visual artists at the event.

It goes from 5-9 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays starting June 9 going until September 15.

You are encouraged to call ahead and make reservations at your select restaurant to make sure you get a spot for dinner.
