PORTAGE COUNTY, Wis. (WAOW) — As COVID-19 vaccination efforts and testing continues, area health departments and the State Attorney Office have a reminder: both testing and vaccines are free of charge.
Though pharmacies may ask for your insurance card, when testing for COVID-19 or getting your vaccine, you should not be asked to pay anything out of pocket.
"The COVID vaccine is a federal commodity. It is free of charge to anyone who wants to get a shot," Portage County Health Department Director Raymond Przybelski said.
If you do receive a bill in the mail, it is recommended you call your insurance provider. If you don't have insurance, you are still eligible to receive the vaccine and testing for free of charge.
