WISCONSIN (WAOW) — Wisconsin is hitting another milestone in the recovery efforts against COVID-19.
The Wisconsin Hospital Association COVID-19 dashboard is now showing the lowest number of hospitalizations since tracking first began.
The first ever recorded number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients was 192, back on April 2, 2020. It would remain the record low until May 31, 2020 when 186 people in Wisconsin were hospitalized with COVID-19.
During the height of the pandemic, hospitalizations peaked at 2,277 on Nov. 17, 2020. The current low is a 92% drop from November's high.
ICU patients, on the other hand, are not at a record low. The fewest COVID-19 patients in the ICU throughout the pandemic was recorded on March 20, 2021 with 49. As of May 31, there are 74 COVID-19 ICU patients.
North Central Wisconsin is nearing having no COVID-19 patients in its hospitals. As of May 31, there were only 18 COVID-19 hospitalizations, with six being in the ICU.
