MOSINEE, Wis. (WOAW) -- This weeks athlete of the week is Mosinee softball senior Zoe Gburek.
Gburek is on quite the hot streak in her final season wearing purple and white; going five for five in Tuesday's win over Northland Pines, and hitting not one, but two home runs in the same inning.
"I was honestly just going for good contact, because I don't want to overswing and think 'homerun, homerun' and like wif it or something," said Gburek.
Her coaches say her approach at the plate puts the line up at ease. She's calm, cool and collected on the outside, but she says the same can't be said for what's inside.
"I'm good at compressing my feelings, I don't show them a lot. That's another thing that just keep me grounded so when i'm mad at myself for like two seconds and then i'm ready to go again."
When it comes to being amid the fire of an ongoing hot streak, she's not superstitious. No she doesn't think us talking about it will affect her mind game
Gburek said, "i'm just focused on not overthinking, just get up to the plate, focus on having a nice solid swing and good hits will come."
