(WAOW) -- The Colby School District in Central Wisconsin is lifting its mask mandate -- starting today, May 7.
According to the district, students through Grade 5 can now get a mask waiver, if their parents request it.
For students in grades 6 through 12, masks are now recommended, but are no longer required.
However, any students riding a school bus for any reason, including athletic events, must still wear masks, as required by federal rules.
School administrators do say that some individual classrooms still may require masks, based on specific health concerns. In those cases, parents and guardians will be notified.
