DOJ release identities of those involved in Weston incident

WESTON, Wis. (WAOW) — The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) is now releasing the identities of those involved in the Weston "critical incident" on April 23.

The female victim, whose cause of death was determined to be homicide by stabbing, has been identified as Renee Hindes.

The suspect has been identified David H. Morris, 43, of Weston. He is still hospitalized but his condition has been upgraded to stable.

Three officers were involved in the incident:

  • Officer Gunnar Schultz, one year in law enforcement
  • Officer Tanner Uhlig, three years in law enforcement
  • Officer Lucas Wiza, seven weeks in law enforcement

The Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation into the officers discharging their weapons and Renee's death investigation. All investigations are still ongoing, upon completion they will be turned over to the Marathon County District Attorney.
