Marshfield area volunteer remembered

Marshfield, Wis (WAOW) -- A longtime Marshfield community volunteer is remembered.

Jerald "Jer" Lang passed away Monday at the age of 79.

In February of 2020-- Lang took home a Jefferson Award for his many volunteer efforts.

He spent more than 50 years working as a Wood County 4-H volunteer.

"He loved people and always set out to make things better," 4-H leader Romelle Bymers says.

Lang also took part in numerous fundraisers for the Central Wisconsin Fairgrounds.

"His efforts meant updates to the world famous round barn and other buildings at the fairgrounds," Bymers explains.

In addition to 4-H, fair and farm activities-- Lang also spent countless hours raising money for other community projects like St. Vincent de Paul--his church and wrestling programs.

Funeral services will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield on Sunday and will be live streamed.
