UPDATE: Bond set for area teacher accused of sexually assaulting a student

UPDATE: A judge set bond at $10,000 signature bond with $5,000 in cash for an area woman accused of sexually assautling a student.

Christy Mathis is accused of sexually assaulting a student at the Mosinee Middle School.

The judge found probable cause to move forward with the case.

Mathis is expected to be back in court on April 23 at 2 p.m.


MARATHON COUNTY, Wis. (WAOW) -- An area art teacher is scheduled to be in court Tuesday, where she could face a charge of sexual assault of a student by school staff.

That's according to Wausau Police Department's public information portal.

Christy Mathis, the accused woman, is an art teacher at Mosinee Middle School, according to a press release sent by the Mosinee Police Department.

Police say her arrest is the result of an investigation that begun after they were alerted of alleged inappropriate contact with a female student. Police say the investigation is ongoing.

Mathis is set to be in Marathon County court Tuesday at 2 p.m.
