WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WAOW)-- The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters baseball team is getting close to planting some trees in the community.
The Rafters teamed up with ND Paper to plant the trees in 2019.
Storms in the summer of 2019 and the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the planting of the trees.
187 trees will be planted throughout the city for the 187 strikeouts Rafter's pitchers recorded during the 2019 season.
"It's a different idea that we haven't done before, I was excited to actually get it to fruition and make it happen," said Andy Francis, the general manager of the team.
When the warm weather becomes consistent, the trees will be planted.
