Weston (WAOW)- Officials prepared for the worst before arriving to the corner house on lahr street just off of county highway x
Battalion Chief Evan McBain was one of the first officials to respond, he said, "I saw the smoke from Camp Phillips and Ross Ave . I started calling for more trucks"
Five units responded to the call for help including Ringle, Riverside, City of Wausau, Easton and Mosinee.
"On our arrival there was a two car garage that had spread to another smaller building that was fully engulfed in fire," continued McBain.
"The siding on the house was starting to melt, so that was our biggest concern right away was the house."
The position of the residence, on the corner of Lahn off of county X gave crews a challenge for water source. To collect, they tapped a hydrant almost a mile away, and retained an amount in a collection pool outside the residence.
S.A.F.E.R confirms one resident was inside the home at the time of the fire, but there were no injuries.
"It did have some melted siding -- but we did keep the fire from going into it."
Along with the damage to the home, the two individual structures are no longer standing.
"We have the fire fully extinguished now so we'll look into possible causes but nothing that appears suspicious right now."
Officials say the structure was older, and made of dry wood.
Multiple agencies were called to a structure fire on Lahr Avenue in Weston Saturday afternoon.
News 9 has a reporter on scene who says surrounding roads leading up to the structure are blocked off.
Wausau Police Department told our News 9 reporter that two separate garages burnt down, the house next to it is damaged due to the heat of flames but did not catch fire.
