WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW)-- With federal unemployment benefits ending, and many schools in our area opting to go virtual, more kids will be at home without a meal they normally get at school.

The Salvation Army in Wausau said they have seen a few more people in the past month than usual, averaging about 60 families a day.

They say that sometimes the line for drive through meals wraps around the building.

"We anticipate a larger demand with kids not being able to go to school to get their meals, the pace will stay that way," said Major Paul Logan with the Wausau Salvation Army.

Major Paul said he does not expect the demand to decrease any time soon.
