WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW) -- August is a month when recent high school graduates often apply to colleges. Now, they can apply to two area colleges, UW-Stevens Point (UWSP) and Northcentral Technical College (NTC), at no cost.
Those who apply to attend UWSP campuses in Stevens Point, Wausau and Marshfield for fall 2021 in the month of August won't have to pay the $25 application fee. Instead, it's covered by "special donors."
“UW-Stevens Point is excited about the generous contributions of the UWSP Foundation, alumni, donors and friends whose gift will increase access for future students to apply to UW-Stevens Point campuses without the financial burden associated with application fees,” said Marc Young, director of Admissions and Recruitment.
UWSP offers more than 100 program options, with 80 bachelor's and 16 graduate degree programs available. More information is available at the UWSP website.
Anyone who applies to NTC for the fall 2020 semester will have the $30 fee waived.
“We know that college-bound students are presented with unique obstacles while weighing their college options this fall,” said Shannon Livingston, Dean of Student Success at NTC. “Our commitment to support student success has never been stronger, which is why we made the decision to waive application fees to help students get started locally.”
Students will have the opportunity for in-person classes, flexible and self-paced virtual courses, and hybrid courses offered through Zoom. More information can be found at NTC's website.
