WAUSAU, Wis. (WAOW)-- Wausau East High School held their graduation ceremony Tuesday evening at Thom Field.

This week the Wausau school district is holding graduation ceremonies.

Due to the large number of graduates in each school, the ceremonies have strict guidelines and protocols in place. Some of these guidelines include:

  • Each graduate is allowed four guests
  • Everyone is required to wear a mask or protective face shield
  • No distribution of diploma covers or hand shaking as students walk across the stage.

Even with these changes, students and faculty are happy to be celebrating together after an unconventional end to the school year.

"Savor every moment of tonight's ceremony, because it's all for you. As you well know, so much has been taken from you," said retired Wausau East High School principal, Brad Peck, to the class of 2020 during the ceremony.
