MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WAOW)-- An educational event about Black Lives Matter was held Friday evening in Marshfield.
Speakers, informational booths, artwork and movie were all part of the event promoting racial equality and justice.
Organizers say having a discussion is the first step in coming together.
"Just being more open to hearing things and I truly hope that anyone who isn't supporting our movement will just at least consider it and through all the information we have I think it's definitely pliable," Event organizer Ava Sainterme said.
"Some people I guess are nervous to hear what we're saying because they've heard bad things about the organization," Sainterme said. "We are just part of the actual movement...we're not legally affiliated by any means. We're just a group of teenagers from Marshfield who are supporting this movement."
The donations received from the event will be going to the Equal Justice Initiative and the NAACP.
