STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WAOW) -- The University of Wisconsin System announces a donation of $2 million from an anonymous donor.
The money will be used to improve online classes during the upcoming school year.
The coronavirus pandemic forced UW System students and staff to stay home and complete the rest of the school year online. But the quick transition created some issues when it came to technology.
"UWSP got just shy of $140,000 of that money which is really excellent and that's going to allow us to pay about 200 faculty to engage in some professional development for online teaching," said Lindsay Bernhagen, Director of the Teaching Center at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP).
Depending on the campus, up to $500,000 could go toward buying laptops and WiFi hotspots.
